Evaluation Tools

 

Evaluation is one of the most important parts of the training cycle and sadly the one that most organisations and trainers miss or forget to carryout.  Without it there is no way of telling how effective your training has been or whether the course or learning event that you are running needs changing.

 

Out of the 4 original levels of Donald Kirkpatrick's Evaluation model (1959) only two are normally carried out. 

  • Level 1 - Reaction

  • Level 3 - Transfer to the workplace

The following resources will enable you to evaluate at level 2.  Level 2 being knowledge or learning gain and the most important level for trainers.  It is an Microsoft Excel table that enables you to calculate the learning gain achieved on your courses.
